Kazi is among eleven people who got three Padma awards - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri - from Maharashtra. He has been conferred the fourth-highest civilian awards in the Literature and Education category in recognition of his work in promoting education, especially among minorities.

Honourable President of Anjuman-I-Islam, Dr. Zahir Kazi has been awarded with the prestigious PADMA SHRI in the field of Literature and Education, by the Government of India, 2024. A very proud moment for Anjuman - I - Islam community and group of institutions. This award was announced on the occasion of Republic Day and it will be conferred by the Honourable President of India at ceremonial function which will be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan around March / April 2024.
